Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868 – 1928)

I was impressed by his work. It seemed the space was drawn by lines. You will find that line is one of the most important element of Mackintosh's design.
While I looked up all of Mackintosh's work, his design was very close to Art Nouveau style. Margaret Mackintosh, his wife, was a designer too and it seemed she helped him in  so many ways. Her art was melted in Mackintosh's design.

He was an extra ordinary draftman while he was at Glasglow School of Art. His illustration are really catch my eyes for their neat and aesthetic details.  His drawing reminds me of artist at Art nouveaux-Klimt, Musha, Lautrec.

Current Application

Adding some curved lines and vertical lines makes Mackintosh style.

Peer Review
Hailey: I think the current application of Art & Craft Period seemed very reasonable. Both of them has essential element  of this period-completely hand-made, wood joints visible, based on gothic design, influenced by Shaker furniture, and predominate wood oak.
Becca: It was a really helpful note the eight main characteristic that defines this period-
  • Completely hand made
  • Wood joints visible
  • Based on Medieval designs
  • Influenced by Shaker furniture
  • Predominate wood oak
  • Simple honest designs
  • Large exposed hinges
  • Very heavy furniture
I copied them to remind me.
Thanks a lot!
